Fifth Sunday after Trinity

Father Paul introduces the service with something a little different

HYMN

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,
the King of creation;
O my soul, praise him,
for he is thy health and salvation:
all ye who hear,
now to his temple draw near,
joining in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth,
shieldeth thee gently from harm,
or when fainting sustaineth:
hast thou not seen
how thy heart’s wishes have been
granted in what he ordnaineth?

Praise to the Lord,
who doth prosper thy work and defend thee;
surely his goodness and mercy
shall daily attend thee:
ponder anew
what the Almighty can do,
if to then end he befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord!
O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath,
come now with praises before him!
Let the Amen
sound from his people again:
gladly for aye we adore him!

A reading from Luke’s Gospel

Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me.’ But the Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.’

Luke 10:38-42

HYMN

As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after you.

You alone are my heart's desire and I long to worship you.

You alone are my strength, my shield

to you alone may my spirit yield.

You alone are my heart's desire and I long to worship you.

I want you more than gold or silver, only you can satisfy.

You alone are the real joy-giver and the apple of my eye.

You alone are my strength, my shield

to you alone may my spirit yield.

You alone are my heart's desire and I long to worship you.

You're my Friend and you're my Brother even though you are a king.

I love you more than any other, so much more than anything.

You alone are my strength, my shield

to you alone may my spirit yield.

You alone are my heart's desire and I long to worship you.
